Position:
This position exists for the Biblical shepherding of the children and youth of Westmont Christian Church, under the guidance and leadership of the Senior Pastor. In this capacity, the Youth Pastor will be the leader, teacher and organizer of the Children and Youth Ministries. Qualifications of the
Youth Pastor:
Possessing at least a high school diploma and being no less than 21 years of age. Possessing a sense of call and gifting to ministry and desiring a place to follow that calling. Willing to develop mentoring relationships with a variety of children and youth. Willing to be mentored by and accountable to the Senior Pastor. Having a vibrant and growing relationship with Christ and a passion for ministry to children and/or youth. Willing to hold to God's Word as authoritative and grounding. Being teachable, humble, and having a servant's heart. Being an example to others in Christian character and integrity. Being a self-starter as well as a team player. Able to lead Bible Study, discussions and group activities as a part of a team of adult ministry partners. Able to provide own transportation to/from the church. Able to pass a background check and adhere to the Children and Youth Protection Policy. Expectations of the
Youth Pastor:
To be an example of Christian health to our children, youth and church members, involving things like: Attending Sunday morning worship, church events and other church functions. Taking opportunities to grow in faith personally. Demonstrating appropriate boundaries in life, relationships, and ministry. Willing to teach and encourage sound Biblical teachings and theology. Living out the Gospel, seeking holiness and embracing transparency and grace. To grow in maturity as a Christian servant and leader: Meeting weekly with the Senior Pastor, reflecting on ministry principles and evaluating ministry experiences. Engaging in reflection of Christian leadership and theology via readings/videos assigned by the Senior Pastor. To serve as a leader in the
Children and Youth Ministry of Westmont Christian Church:
Planning Wednesday evening Children and Youth Ministry programs, and leading the Youth. Teaching Sunday morning Youth Ministry Sunday School classes and be willing to lead small group discussion. Planning Sunday morning Children's Ministry Sunday School classes and getting volunteers organized. Planning and execution of Children and Youth Ministry special events, including VBS, lock-ins, concerts, fundraisers, Youth Sundays, etc. Being involved in the planning and participation of church camp programs. Taking opportunities to contact every student through social media, texting, and personal contact. Performing administrative tasks associated with the Children's and Youth Ministries, attending board meetings, and helping to improve technology while utilizing it effectively.
Accountability Structure:
The Youth Pastor works directly under the Senior Pastor.
Commitment:
The Youth Pastor is a part time position, consisting of a minimum 20 hours per week. Sunday mornings, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesday evenings, 5:25 - 7:30 pm Weekly staff meeting with Senior Pastor and office staff, 1 hour, Mondays @ 9:30am 15 office hours to be taken sometime Monday through Thursday, but posted. Scheduled monthly Board Meetings to report activity.
Special Events, TBD Compensation:
$20,080 per year Reimbursement for ministry expenses provided the following conditions are met: Original receipts are submitted. The tax-exempt form was utilized, if applicable. Personal mileage for transportation to and from camps and events will be paid at the standard mileage rate based on mileage records.
Vacation:
