Job Description
Custer Road UMC Plano, Texas 75023 Part Time , On-Site Custer Road United Methodist Church is seeking a compassionate, highly organized individual to serve as our part-time Care Ministry Coordinator. This position combines a heart for people with strong administrative and event-coordination skills to help ensure that members of our congregation feel seen, supported, and loved through every season of life. The Care Ministry Coordinator supports our pastors and care ministries by coordinating congregational care, memorial services, grief-support programs, special worship services, Bible studies, and other ministry activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate spiritual maturity, excellent attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to communicate with warmth and grace.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing compassionate emotional and spiritual support to members of the congregation.
- Coordinating birth and death notifications and maintaining accurate congregational records.
- Supporting grief ministries, including GriefShare, Surviving the Holidays, and Journeying Through Grief.
- Coordinating memorial services, including family communication, facility scheduling, volunteer support, and day-of logistics.
- Planning special services such as All Saints and the Service of Light and Hope.
- Managing communion supplies and coordinating preparation for worship services.
- Supporting care-related ministries, Bible studies, and senior-adult programs through scheduling, communication, purchasing, and financial administration.
- Facilitating Care Team meetings and supporting communication among pastors, staff, and ministry leaders.
- Maintaining membership, columbarium, and other confidential ministry records.
- Assisting with the Care Ministry budget, expense reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Coordinating Care Ministry website updates, announcements, and communication requests.
