The Children's Ministry Team Lead role involves strong administrative duties. The ideal candidate will inspire and equip children (birth through 6th grade) and their families with the tools necessary to follow Jesus by developing and carrying out faith development opportunities and lesson plans, leading thriving age-appropriate worship experiences, and overseeing a team of volunteers. All responsibilities will align with the mission, vision, and established goals of Impact Church of The Woodlands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
Develop, organize, and implement effective children's and youth programs, including fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, evangelism, ministry, and mission opportunities. Create engaging Tuesday evening and Sunday morning experiences for children. Incorporate and plan monthly, quarterly, and annual service activities for children and youth (e.g., Vacation Bible School, retreats, etc.).
Volunteer Leadership:
Recruit, nurture, and retain volunteers to assist with lesson plans, activities, events, and youth programs. Provide training and ongoing support to ensure volunteers feel confident and equipped to lead.
Relationship Building:
Build strong relationships with children, their families, and volunteers to foster a healthy, safe, and supportive environment. Communicate effectively with church leaders and parents through email, phone, newsletters, and meetings about the purpose, value, and procedures of Children's Ministry.
Administrative Support:
Create and track meaningful metrics to report on the effectiveness of children's and youth programs. Provide parents with periodic e-calendar updates of upcoming and ongoing events. Assist with weekly newsletters, creating flyers in Canva, phone calls, managing first-time guests and new members, and volunteer communications.
Ministry Support:
Assist other church ministries (e.g., Crawfish Boil, Octoberfest, Good Friday, Sedar, Easter, Christmas, New Year's Eve) with planning and organizing service events. Oversee ministry areas such as baptism team, baby dedication, movie day, children's choir, praise dance team, AWANA or midweek activities, Vacation Bible School (VBS), summer retreat, and after-school programs. Perform miscellaneous duties such as running errands, ordering supplies, conducting activities, and assisting with set-up and clean-up for events.
Safety and Professionalism:
Maintain a safe environment, including wearing appropriate footwear to prevent slips or falls when working with children. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Personal faith in Jesus Christ and belief in salvation as a gift of grace. Adherence to the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Impact Church of The Woodlands. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and website management. Clear and effective communication skills (both verbal and written). Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
Ability to:
Handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Plan and implement age-appropriate spiritual content. Recruit, train, and equip staff members and volunteers. Create a collaborative ministry vision with staff, volunteers, and parents. Work independently or as part of a team. Multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Strong work ethic, self-starter, and results-oriented mindset. Passion for connecting children and families to Jesus and the church. Must be able to lift or move objects up to 25 lbs occasionally and stand or walk for extended periods when necessary. The flexibility to assist in church wide events and assist with other administrative duties within the organization.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field is required. Minimum of two years of experience in ministry service.
