Job Description
Position Overview The Ministerial Intern will serve under the direction and mentorship of the Lead Pastor and leadership team. This role is designed for someone exploring or preparing for long-term pastoral ministry and who wants to contribute meaningfully to the growth, health, and discipleship of the entire church. The intern will engage in preaching, leading in prayer and liturgy, teaching, pastoral care, ministry leadership, and outreach-with a special emphasis on connecting with younger adults, young families, and new believers . Christ Community is eager to reach people in our immediate area and have them worship with us and participate in our ministries. The Outreach Responsibility will be the most mission critical area of responsibility for success in this position. Key Responsibilities Congregational Ministry Assist in Sunday worship services. Preach periodically (frequency based on gifting, need, and development plan). Participate in a Community Group Provide pastoral care alongside church leadership (visitation, prayer, counseling support as appropriate). Young Adult & Family Engagement Build relationships with young adults, young couples, and families with children. Help develop ministries, events, or groups that foster community and spiritual growth for these demographics. Participate in outreach opportunities that attract and welcome younger families in the community. Outreach Visit local businesses and schools and build our engagement with the shareholders in our community. Participate in our Marketing of our church which includes: post card, door hangers, advertising Participate in our social media ministry by posting content to social media on a regular basis Share the gospel message with people as the moment and Lord calls. Must be proficient and sharing one s faith and explaining the gospel. Ministry Support & Administration Contribute to church communications, planning, and weekly ministry operations. Support children s, youth, or family ministries when needed. Participate in staff meetings, vision discussions, and planning retreats. Personal & Professional Development Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor or mentor for ministry coaching. Receive opportunities for skill development in preaching, teaching, organizational leadership, and pastoral care. Work on an individualized ministry development plan to help clarify calling and grow in spiritual maturity.
