Job Description

YOUTH MINISTRY DIRECTOR

  • Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church has been a faithful presence in the Gloucester Courthouse community since 1880, founded by families seeking to plant a church home for their children. Of the 40 people at the first official meeting, 24 were children and youth
  • and we carry on that same spirit today.
We are a part of the ECO Presbyterian denomination and a multi-generational congregation welcoming members from infants to those in their nineties. We believe we are called by God to build up the next generation for the work of His Kingdom, and so we prioritize children, youth, and family ministries. Our youth ministry is currently growing rapidly, and we are seeking a faithful steward to continue developing it.
  • POSITION SUMMARY
  • The Youth Ministry Director will develop and champion youth ministry at Grace Covenant by engaging with teenagers, their parents, and volunteers
  • leading and organizing a flourishing youth ministry and integrating youth discipleship into the larger life of the church. This position reports to the Senior Pastor, Head of Staff. This is a part-time salaried position of 15-20 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $25,000
  • 35,000. The position includes paid vacation time and other benefits. There is a possibility of combining this role with other duties.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Disciple youth both one-on-one and in group settings
  • Plan and lead weekly youth group meetings, including study, worship, fellowship, and service
  • Lead youth to develop mature faith in Jesus, planning for discipleship development and identifying areas for growth
  • Coordinate, lead, and train volunteer leaders
  • Connect and collaborate with parents and grandparents
  • Welcome new youth and their families, integrating them into the church
  • Worship with the congregation on Sunday mornings
  • Work to integrate youth into the larger ministries of the church
  • Plan and lead youth discipleship experiences and excursions, including service/mission projects, conferences, and camps
  • Reach and welcome uninvolved youth from the congregation and surrounding community
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, Christian Growth Committee meetings, and planning meetings with the Senior Pastor as required
  • Collaborate with the Family Ministries Director and work with the Christian Growth Committee
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a proven ability to work with youth and families
  • Demonstrates a commitment to discipleship and treats youth as people called to follow Jesus
  • Has a vision for developing youth meetings to include worship, prayer, service, and study
  • Is outgoing and easily engages with young people
  • Lives and shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ and cares deeply for the next generation
  • Has a track record in ministry and is well-informed on theological issues and able to teach others
  • Is committed to the mission and convictions of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and affirms the Tenets of ECO
  • A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians
  • Is comfortable with ECO polity and the leadership and volunteer structures of the church
  • Is able to actively engage in a highly collaborative work environment and respectfully engage with the Senior Pastor, staff, and congregation
