Job Description

Youth Minister - St. Thomas Episcopal ChurchHelp the Next Generation Discover Faith, Community, and Purpose St. Thomas Episcopal Church is looking for a Part-Time Youth Minister to lead and inspire, while partnering with families and volunteers, to create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging ministry. This is an opportunity to shape lives through mentorship, worship, service, retreats, and fun. Compensation:
$28,000-$32,000/a year (commensurate with experience) What You'll Do Build Community Plan and lead at least one youth event each month, both on and off campus. Develop authentic relationships with youth and their families. Be a consistent, welcoming presence in the life of the church. Inspire Faith Lead monthly Christian formation experiences rooted in scripture and the Episcopal tradition, while encouraging honest questions and conversation. Support confirmation preparation alongside clergy, youth, and families. Collaborate with the children's ministry team on curriculum and lesson planning. Create Meaningful Worship Be a visible and welcoming presence for families most Sundays during the 10:30 a.m. service. Encourage youth participation in worship and partner with clergy and musicians to design an annual youth-led service. Help create an annual children's service and offer children's sermons several times each year. Plan Meaningful Experiences Organize service opportunities that make a positive impact within our church and the wider community Coordinate seasonal events during Advent, Lent, Easter, and the beginning of the program year. Lead an annual youth retreat at Shrine Mont and help facilitate youth programming during the parish retreat. Keep Things Running Smoothly Maintain the annual calendar for youth and children's events and communicate regularly about upcoming events Partner with the Nursery Coordinator to ensure Sunday coverage. Support scholarships for camps and continuing education. Connect with other regional youth ministry leaders for collaboration and shared learning. Ideal candidates will have:
Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or leading programs for children or teenagers. A vibrant Christian faith and a willingness to share their own faith journey authentically. A commitment to the Episcopal Church or an openness to learning its traditions and practices. A deep respect for the dignity of every person and a passion for creating welcoming spaces for all. Interest in justice, compassion, and serving the community. Strong organizational and communication skills.
