Job Description
Pastor of Student Ministries River Valley Alliance Church - Watertown, WI. The Pastor of Student Ministries serves alongside the Senior Pastor and Ministry Team to help shape the spiritual life of students. Being someone who loves Jesus deeply, loves students genuinely, and is excited to be a part of building God's Kingdom —both inside the church and out in the community. The Pastor of Student Ministries primarily provides spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership for students in grades 6-12. The goal of this ministry is to lead students to the living God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Equipping them with a solid biblical foundation and providing a place to grow in their faith and have godly community. The goal is to build them up so that they may live out and share their faith. The Pastor of Student Ministries is also expected to be a vital member the church body, participating in worship, prayer and other ministry expressions. Ministry Duties The Pastor of Student Ministries will: Build authentic relationships with students in grades 6-12 Teach biblical truth in ways that are engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate Create safe, fun, and welcoming environments where students can ask questions and grow in faith Equip students to live out and share their faith with friends and classmates Lead weekly middle school and high school gatherings Plan retreats, camps, mission trips, outreach events, and other experiences that support spiritual growth Develop and implement curriculum and teaching resources Recruit, train, and encourage volunteer youth leaders Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, encouraging them to honor their God-given role as the primary spiritual leaders of their children Attend meetings as advised and other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor Work with Senior Pastor and the Governing Board to create and manage the student ministry budget Integrate youth ministry with the larger church body and support the overall mission of River Valley Preach around 6 times a year.
Qualifications Spiritual:
Has humility and confidence in the Lord Loves the Bible and sees it as the ultimate source of truth in this life. Has a heart for prayer and dependence on God Has Solid knowledge of Scripture and the ability to apply biblical truth to everyday life Has a call from God to help equip the found and pursue the lostProfessionally:
A ministry/biblical college degree Licensed with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (or actively pursuing licensure/ordination) A learner who is coachable and eager to grow Strong teaching and communication skills Team playerPersonally:
High integrity and a genuine love for people Relational, approachable, and able to develop healthy relationships with people of all ages Self-motivated Known as a positive, respected presence in the community Common Ministerial Duties for thePastor of Student Ministries:
Religious Exemption - In the performance of their responsibilities, every employee at River Valley Alliance Church contributes to carrying out the religious mission of the Church as established in the Manual of The Christian and Missionary Alliance and the governing documents of the Church. Serves in a ministry position by providing spiritual, ministry, and administrative functions for the accomplishment of River Valley's mission and the effectiveness of its ministries. Serves as a role model for spiritual maturity in accordance with the Christian beliefs of the River Valley. Provides spiritual guidance to those under the individual's supervision and to others with respect to living as a disciple of Jesus Christ and serving the mission of River Valley. Performs other duties related to ministry functions as set forth from time to time in the Employee Handbook , or as appropriate to participate in, and contribute to the leadership of, the exercise and expression of Christian beliefs. Leads and participates in religious services, prayer groups, and religious education and fulfills other ministry functions and requirements as requested.
