Job Description

TUNDRA WOMEN'S COALITION SHELTER ADVOCATE JOB DESCRIPTION
Requirements:
Yup'ik Speaker Preferred High School education or GED required; college degree preferred Basic understanding of family and sexual violence preferred Experience in a residential facility preferred Willingness to fly on small airplanes required Must obtain or have an Alaska driver license Knowledge of substance misuse preferred Must be willing to receive training for on-call advocacy and work on-call status Must be willing to attend meetings, provide direct -service advocacy, & do minimal public speaking Must become certified in First Aid/CPR Must pass background check
Hours:
40 hours per week. Friday to Tuesday 12AM to 8AM. On-call status and overtime required.
Job Type:
Full-time, 40 hours per week with on-call and overtime Pay range: $54,912-$62,858
DOE Benefits:
TWC offers health insurance (Premera), dental insurance (Lincoln), and eye insurance (Alaska VSP). Coverage is effective after one month of FT employment. TWC offers a retirement plan through Mutual of America after the first year of employment with a 3% contribution of a person's gross income and then matches half of a 2% voluntary contribution. TWC offers 13 holidays in a year, people's birthday off and five mental health days a year. PTO leave is accrued at 16 hours a month and is increased after two years, five years, and seven years.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that the shelter is secure and oversee safety needs of residents 2. Screen calls on the crisis line & manage access into/out of secure building 3. Do resident intakes and orient new residents to the shelter 4. Provide crisis intervention services as appropriate 5. Participate in supervision and staff meetings as required 6. Foster a positive community living environment by ensuring that basic shelter guidelines are observed 7. Arrange and/or provide emergency transportation as needed 8. Maintain accurate data and confidential resident files 9. Maintain cleanliness of shelter 10. Provide peer counseling to residents and record interactions 11. Refer residents to proper community service organizations and assist in utilization of available resources Page 1 of 2 Revised 12/20 TUNDRA
