Non-Exempt, Full-Time, 40 hours per week Job Summary Reporting to the Director, the Resident Advisor oversees, mentors, and provides academic support to approximately seventy (70) high school students from Belmont, Franklin, Lincoln, Sotomayor, and Wilson High Schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District. The Resident Advisor is responsible for a group of twelve to fourteen (12-14) students and plays a vital role in guiding them through academic and residential experience. The Resident Advisor will live in the residence hall for six (6) weeks, providing a supportive and structured environment to foster student success and personal growth. Additionally, Resident Advisors assist with daily operations, serve as role models, and ensure the safety and well-being of students throughout the duration of the program. Job Duties 40%•
Administrative:
Collaborate with an eight-person team, contributing as both a team member and a leader. Inform and instruct students on emergency procedures; assist in implementing crisis management protocols and documentation. Work with residential staff to ensure adherence to safety and health regulations in both the residence hall and on campus. Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing materials and ensuring supplies are ready for activities.

    Provide daily supervision of student participants throughout the program. Complete weekly reports and other required program documentation. Support the enforcement of program policies and procedures, including quiet hours, curfew schedules, and disciplinary standards set by the Project Director.

Student Support/Advisement:
Plan and implement activities to build community both inside and outside the residence hall, working individually and as part of the team. Organize icebreakers and team-building exercises to help students connect with one another. Encourage and support students' aspirations for higher education. Be available on-call 24 hours a day, five days a week. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • (Essential) Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong commitment to a quality work product. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically. Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity. Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities. Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner. Ability to self-motivate and work independently. Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in education, Liberal Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year of experience working with TRIO and Educational Equity Programs. One year of experience working with low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students in roles such as a tutor, teacher's aide, or counselor assistant. One year of experience living and working in a college residential setting. Applicants must be in good academic standing, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and maintain good standing at their current institution.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE
$17.87/hr. Please note this position is not eligible for benefits.
