Bridgeport, CT Job Details Part-time 8 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description SUMMARY In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Sr. Counselor provides night monitoring of the co-occurring enhanced intensive residential treatment program in an effort to ensure the safety and whereabouts of all clients and to respond to the needs of individual clients should the need arise by performing the following duties.

Saturda-Sunday 12:00am-8:00am
CORE FUNCTIONS
Remains awake and alert at all times to tend to needs of the unit and responsibilities of the Night Monitor. Performs hourly rounds of the entire unit which includes both the third and fourth floors and conducts rounds at random time frames within each hour and not at fixed intervals. Completes head counts and confirms it is in accordance with the current census. Ensures the whereabouts of each client through direct observation. Acknowledges any and all behavior(s) on the part of any client(s) that is considered inappropriate or a cause for concern. Attempts to redirect any clients in a respectful and appropriate manner as needed and offers supportive counseling as deemed necessary. Utilizes appropriate methods to provide effective night monitoring which includes video surveillance, random hourly rounds and walk throughs of the unit including both the third and fourth floors to check all bedrooms, corridors, medication room and common rooms (such as laundry room and dining area). Utilizes crisis intervention techniques & back-up assistance plans as outline in policy and procedure labeled "Crisis Intervention and Back up Assistance" whenever necessary based on client(s) need and staff assessment. Documents necessary communications in Night Shift Log Book. Makes chart copies, assembles new charts, makes other copies and completes laundry duties as necessary/assigned. Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Minimum of an Associate's degree in behavioral health and at least two (2) years experience in related field preferred with clients with co-occurring disorders; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of principles and techniques of basic counseling skills, crisis intervention and documentation. Understanding of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health disorders. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with clients, colleagues and supervisors. Excellent communication skills. Ability to project a professional image.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
Incumbents may be encouraged to secure professional certification (e.g. CAC and/or SCCD). Valid CT driver's license required.
