As a critical member of The Towers at Tower Lane's Support Services Team, the Assistant Director of Resident Engagement is a self-motivated and compassionate leader who oversees the development and ongoing refinement of a new approach to community-based programming for seniors in an affordable housing setting. The purpose of this new approach is to identify our residents' needs physically and psychosocially and implement intervention programs based on the specific needs of the resident population cohorts. Ultimately, the goal is to create a community wide programming approach that engages residents on many levels and allows leaders to make data-driven decisions about programming. This leader will lead all programming and volunteerism based aspects through supervising a team of programming and volunteer coordination staff and will build out and enhance programming continuously, with focus on evidence-based programming.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop, implement, and continually enhance programming for all residents of The Towers. Continually improve systems surrounding monthly programming calendars, in-house digital and print media, and marketing of programming for residents. Initiate Evidence-Based Programming as a foundation of the Adult Day program and Cognitive Pathway. Develop systems that would lead up to the initial certification and subsequent recredentialling for the Adult Day program; ensuring compliance with all state of Connecticut Adult Day guidelines. Develop programs that provide safety and stimulation. Assists with providing staff with the appropriate training and support to address the emphasis of the program. Assure staff orientation and annual training. Provide support, direction, feedback, and training for all staff members when necessary. Delegate responsibilities to staff with clear definition of expectations. Supervise, schedule, and manage performance of Memory Care staff in coordination with Vice President. Monitor, analyze and report on statistics related to programming contained in the resident engagement software platforms. Partner with Assistant Director of Resident Support to market programming to pockets of residents who meet criteria of evidence-based programs. Partner with Vice President on any programming initiatives and continually report statistics and performance metrics at update meetings. Direct oversight of Manager of Volunteer and Life Enrichment Services.
- Partner with Manager of Volunteer and Life Enrichment Services to determine volunteer needs for programs and events.
- Develop, manage, and enhance standardized systems for tracking volunteerism and growth of volunteer base, based on agreed upon metrices.
- Partner with Healthy Living Program Coordinator and help to create and manage programs for Towers residents that are enriching across the perceived self-wellness pathways.
- Uphold and enhance the programming aspect of the Proactive Partner Model, with input from Vice President.
- Manage the annual programming budget and stay within guidelines.
- Partner with team members to execute a proactive volunteer recruitment and retention plan focused on driving participation in programming. Listen and gather appropriate feedback from all interested parties and implement reasonable suggestions to enhance the programming at The Towers.
- Work collaboratively with Towers Foundation on grants and donor led programming requirements and proposals.
Maintain statistics in accordance with in-house and external funding requirements as requested. Promote an atmosphere of caring, warmth and friendliness throughout the organization. Provide excellent customer service and refer inquiries/issues to appropriate resources. Participate in Committees as assigned. Provide back-up for Assistant Director of Resident Support during absences. Effectively interact and be sensitive to the residents their families and significant others. Keep assigned office or work area professional, neat, organized and clean. Perform other assignments/special projects from time to time as authorized by Vice President.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Social Services, Social Work, Counseling, Gerontology, or related field. 3+ years' experience providing care to older adults. Experience leading case management and support service delivery to older adults. Working knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local governmental entitlement programs within the State of Connecticut. Excellent organizational, time management, and judgement skills. Exceptional attention to detail, as well as follow through of tasks. Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritize tasks while taking direction and requests from multiple people in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal, written, and inter-personal communication skills. Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products. Knowledge and familiarity with Jewish traditions helpful. Knowledge and experience in the use of various types of office equipment (photocopiers, fax machines, etc.) Self-motivated, hands-on individual with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently while also working within a team atmosphere. Willingness to be flexible with one's work schedule in order to accommodate community, resident, team member and business needs. Extreme amount of patience, warmth, and sensitivity. Demonstrated creativity and problem solving skills.

Physical Ability:
Predominantly, tasks are sedentary, however tasks may involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 40 pounds).
Sensory Requirements :
Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors:
Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, pet dander, pet waste, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
