POSITION
OVERVIEW
The Town of Windham is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Building Official. The Assistant Building Official enforces building and zoning regulations; reviews plans and evaluates applications for permits; administers fee assessments and collection; and performs site inspections of work currently in progress to ensure compliance with the Connecticut State Building Code and local codes and regulations. The position is also responsible for conducting investigations of alleged code violations and taking appropriate action, including issuing warnings, correction notices, and citations. This is a full-time position - 38.50 hrs/wk; Monday through Wednesday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, and Thursday, 8:00am to 7:30pm; $37.50/hr.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the building construction trades, including at least one (1) year experience in building inspection, design, or building construction supervision. Must possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Must be certified under the provisions of the General Statutes of Connecticut, Section 29-262, for certification as an Assistant Building Official. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, required. Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
