https://www.belovedatlanta.org/ Overview The Resident Advocate plays a key role in maintaining the safety, structure, and daily functioning of the residential program. This role helps create a stable and respectful environment where residents can focus on recovery and personal growth. Resident Advocates must demonstrate compassion, clear boundaries, and the ability to respond thoughtfully to resident needs. Depending on the assigned shift, the position may require varying levels of autonomy in supporting residential operations.

CORE RESIDENT ADVOCATE RESPONSIBILITIES

(Applicable to all Resident Advocates) Resident Support & Community Care

• Build supportive relationships with residents while maintaining healthy boundaries
• Encourage accountability and support residents in working toward personal and program goals
• Assist residents in navigating daily routines, schedules, and responsibilities within the home
• Respond to resident concerns or emotional needs in a respectful and trauma-informed manner Program Support
• Coordinate with Case Managers, the Residential Coordinator, and Program leadership regarding resident needs and program operations
• Support program activities including classes, meetings, and community events
• Assist with resident orientation and admission processes
• Reinforce program expectations outlined in the Resident Handbook Safety, Accountability & Documentation
• Maintain a safe, structured residential environment
• Address behavioral concerns or conflicts using trauma-informed de-escalation practices
• Complete required documentation including incident reports, medication logs, drug screen documentation, and house check records
• Communicate important updates regarding resident wellbeing or program concerns to appropriate staff Administrative Support
• Attend BELOVED staff meetings, trainings, retreats, and supervision
• Assist in maintaining the organization and functionality of residential homes
• Participate in the staff on-call rotation when assigned

EVENING RESIDENT ADVOCATE RESPONSIBILITIES

Evening Resident Advocates play a critical role in maintaining safety, structure, and accountability within the residential homes during afternoon and evening hours when fewer staff members may be present. This role requires a higher level of situational awareness, independent judgment, and the ability to respond to resident needs in real time. Residential Safety & Structure

• Monitor resident movement in and out of the home, including tracking approved passes and curfew compliance
• Ensure adherence to house expectations including curfew, chore completion, and community participation
• Conduct routine room checks and house checks to maintain a safe and orderly living environment Accountability & Program Compliance
• Conduct scheduled or random drug screens in accordance with program policy and document results appropriately
• Address behavioral concerns, emotional escalations, or resident conflicts using trauma-informed de-escalation practices
• Document incidents and communicate concerns to the Residential Coordinator or on-call leadership Evening Programming & Community Life
• Facilitate or support house meetings and evening programming
• Support residents in maintaining routines related to recovery meetings, chores, and house responsibilities
• Foster a respectful, supportive community environment within the home Resident Support
• Serve as the primary point of contact for resident needs during evening hours
• Provide emotional support and encouragement while maintaining program boundaries
• Respond to emerging concerns or situations in coordination with leadership when necessary

PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS

• This position reports to the Residential Coordinator
• The Resident Advocate works closely with the Residential Coordinator, Program Manager, Clinical Director, Case Managers, and other BELOVED staff to ensure residents receive coordinated and supportive care.
• The majority of this role involves direct interaction with residents in the BELOVED residential homes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or higher inbehavioral health, social services, or a related field preferred
• One year or more of experience in residential care, social services, recovery programs, or similar support roles preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with individuals who have experienced trauma
• Administrative and organizational skills including use of email and Microsoft Office
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds
• Successful completion of criminal background check
• References demonstrating the applicant's suitability for working with vulnerable populations
