The Hampden County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire energetic, empathetic and motivated Residential Treatment Staff at the Stonybrook Stabilization & Treatment Center in Ludlow, Massachusetts. The Residential Treatment Staff are responsible for the overall care and supervision of the Stabilization and Treatment Center clients. Other duties include the overall maintenance and security of the facility and monitoring client schedules. The Residential Treatment Staff must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed, including mandatory overtime on occasion. Looking to hire for the following shifts: 4pm-12am and 12am-8am.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience in working with individuals with either substance use and/or mental health diagnoses High School diploma or equivalent and must be at least 19 years of age Empathy and the understanding that substance use disorder and addiction are medical diseases A basic understanding of the Section 35 civil commitment process in Massachusetts Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written fashion The Stonybrook Stabilization & Treatment Center is not your average substance use disorder treatment facility. Created by Sheriff Nick Cocchi in 2018 to help people battling substance use, the opening of the facility more than doubled the number of treatment beds in the western half of Massachusetts. Although the facility is operated under the umbrella of the Hampden County Sheriff's Office, it is a standalone facility with specially-trained treatment staff. The Stonybrook Stabilization and Treatment Center provides evidence-guided, trauma-informed, and family-focused medically-managed withdrawal and post-withdrawal care in Ludlow, Massachusetts. Psycho-educational programs draw from proven models with Substance Use Disorder and Criminal Justice clients, scaled for appropriate engagement in the weeks following withdrawal. The clients are admitted to the facility under the Commonwealth's Section 35 law, which provides a way to commit someone for treatment under certain conditions relative to their substance use. The commitment lasts from 30 to 90 days, depending upon the outcome of regular reviews but our average length of stay is around 50 days, which provides a solid amount of time to adequately prepare someone for success in their journey toward long-term recovery.
