Job Description
At Arthur Cassell Transitional House, we are currently looking for two people who would like to work with Veterans during our evening and overnight shifts. Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate Resident Assistant to join our team in assisting Veterans in our transitional housing facility. The Residential assistant is responsible for the evening, overnight, weekend and holiday supervision of the facility and the clients. •Responsibilities• Report any maintenance issues that arise. Supervise clients' activities in common areas of building. Document through communication logs all significant events. Administer drug screens, record results, and maintain a clean, sober environment. Follow protocol for incident reporting. Preform room searches when necessary. Performs any and all related duties as required or assigned by Clinical Staff. Uphold and strengthen the purpose and mission of Open Door Ministries/ACTH. To follow and implement all aspects of Open Door Ministries/ACTH policies and procedures manual. To follow and implement all aspects of the ACTH and VA policy and procedure manual. Maintain Confidentiality of all information concerning clients. •Skills• Model appropriate social skills. Be a positive role model for clients. Model conflict resolution skills for clients. Develop appropriate communication with community organizations (as needed). Utilize appropriate communication skills with clients and co-workers. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to supervise and to motivate clients. Ability and desire to work as a team with staff and volunteers. Ability to problem solve effectively with clients. Sensitive to the needs and issues experienced by the poor and homeless population. •Qualifications• High School Diploma, some college education or coursework in Human Services Field; CNA a plus. 1 year experience in Human Services, related field or practical job experience. Certification in CPR / First Aid Training (expired is okay).
