Job Description
FULL TIME RESIDENTIAL ADVISOR GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general direction of Supervisor and in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible for aiding in the implementation of the Residential Service Plan for each Residential consumer by motivating and supporting residents in the performance of daily living skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates an understanding of the Agency's vision and mission and acts in accordance with it
Consistently acts with honesty and integrity, while demonstrating strong commitment to quality services and the interests of individuals served
Effectively performs job requirements and develops competencies as necessary to perform the job
Provides training in daily living and personal decision making when in community/residential settings
Ensures that emergency routines are followed
Attends required in-service training programs and those meetings deemed appropriate by the Residential Manager
Records the administration and distribution of medications in house logs and resident's charts according to Agency policy and procedures and relevant state regulations
Works in conjunction with other programs to ensure that the individual receives all entitled benefits that are available
Participates in service planning as assigned
Ensures that the medical needs of the consumer are being addressed and maintains an open line of communication between appropriate treatment/support providers so that the individual may receive the maximum benefit from each
Completes required paperwork as assigned in a timely manner
Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as a positive role model and works closely with other staff to maintain an open line of communication
Assures protection of confidentiality of information relating to each individual as well as assuring the human and legal rights of consumers
Appropriately communicates with consumers when necessary to support the effective operation of the program
Provides transportation for persons served as required, which may include transporting in employee's personal vehicle
Maintains flexibility of work schedule as necessary
Knowledge of boundary issues, as well as human and civil rights and the importance of confidentiality regarding persons served
Performs other related duties as required
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
Associates Degree or specialized training or certification, and relevant prior work experience in direct service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to follow a planned pattern of training and to seek supervision and direction when needed
Ability to work well with individuals who are mentally ill and developmentally disabled
Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a clear, constructive and objective manner
Must have the ability to use crisis stabilization techniques that are effective, calming and non-injurious to the individual and staff
Medication and other training as required
Must be adept at conflict resolution
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable and insured vehicle in which one or two consumers can be transported daily
Basic computer skills including the ability to navigate Agency's computer system to access required forms and policies.
