Job Description:
EOP is designed to provide academic support and personal services for economically and academically disadvantaged students who possess the desire and potential to earn a college degree. The 2026 Summer Institute will run from July 6 through August 12. Students will move in on July 6 and move out on August 12. Staff will move in on June 30. Training will begin the afternoon of July 1, there will be no training on July 3, and training will conclude on July 6. The Summer Institute is a free, six-week program for students entering the fall semester. It is designed to help students prepare for college-level coursework, strengthen academic skills, and become familiar with campus resources and expectations. Students will also experience living on campus while building a sense of community, confidence, and the habits needed for success.

August 13, 2026 Position Summary The primary responsibility of the RA/Peer Mentor is to support students as they transition to college by providing guidance, encouragement, and leadership in a residential setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The main role is to help students get ready for college, both in the classroom and in their day-to-day life. Duties include, but are not limited to: Share responsibility for evening and weekend duty coverage to support students and respond to concerns. Serve as a Peer Mentor during non-classroom hours by building relationships, checking in regularly with students, and offering guidance on academic and personal success Help plan and support community activities for the Summer Institute Support students in developing problem-solving skills, personal growth, and a successful transition to college life Engage with students in the residence hall to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive community Document student concerns and incidents in a timely and professional manner and communicate them to the Resident Director Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, responsibility, and respect for others Perform other duties as assigned by the Resident Director or EOP staff
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level:
No degree required but must be a current OCC student in good standing. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and time management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current EOP student, with a strong understanding of the program and the transition experience of EOP students.
