Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Full-time $19.60 - $30.25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Writing skills Driver's License Full Job Description The Residential Advisor will provide direct care to sixteen male and female patients, working with them to help them transition back into the community. The Residential Advisor will work alongside Nurses, Therapists, and will report to the Program Manager. This is a great role for individuals seeking their masters degree. This is a 24/7 program. The schedule will vary between 12-hour shifts and 8-hour shifts. Meals are provided. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. On-street parking is available, meals are included, and the dress code is casual. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred for this role.
Responsibilities:
Crisis Management:
Handles crisis situations calmly and effectively using sound clinical judgment and positive approaches.
Self-Help & Life Skills Training:
Provides training in daily living, socialization, interpersonal effectiveness, and community involvement.
Group Therapy Facilitation:
Leads or co-leads group therapy sessions for residents in a Long-Term Structured Residence (LTSR).
Direct Resident Care:
Delivers care based on recovery and rehabilitation principles, serving as a role model and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
Team Collaboration:
Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement coordinated treatment plans.
ADL Support:
Assesses and assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including hygiene and laundry, and develops skill-building plans.
Safety Monitoring:
Ensures safety and security of the residence through regular rounds and crisis intervention.
Program Development:
Collaborates in planning, implementing, and evaluating group programs.
Documentation:
Maintains accurate and complete client records in compliance with WPIC standards. High School Diploma and 1 year of experience OR Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling. Bachelors in other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience. Ability to communicate effectively and in writing required. Physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment. Attends 16 hours of training per year. May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
