The Shift Supervisor m anages and is accountable for the overall care and documentation of resident care on assigned unit(s) . They carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Oak Plains Academy's policies and procedures . Ensures that staff are following and implementing the program, unit schedules, and Oak Plains Academy's policies and procedures Key Responsibilities Participate in Shift Administrator duties to include but not limited to ensuring notification of AOC and Leadership etc. Ensures completion of incident reports, audit patient rounds, end of pay period punch detail, etc. Performs multiple daily reviews of Q15 observation sheets for timeliness, accuracy, and completion. Ensure all required documentation is completed in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner. Responds as point person in emergencies and/or other crisis. Facilitates shift activities as required. Provides appropriate crises intervention by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors. Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to address disruptive and/or dangerous behaviors. When necessary, as a last resort staff will utilize techniques taught in the Handle with Care training. Oversees and directs the unit to promote the highest level of physical, mental and psychosocial functioning of residents and ensures staff are following the schedule per program fidelity standards. Closely monitors all interactions and behaviors (staff and residents) to ensure an environment and culture which is safe and conducive to positive change. Response to crisis and assists in the proper implementation of protective holds in a timely manner and ensures proper notification and documentation is completed. Ensures resident rights are protected and always enforced. Participates in interviewing, training, provides redirection and coaching on the job. Participates in providing input into employee performance appraisals. Ensure that significant changes in resident condition are communicated in a timely fashion to the Director of Residential Services, and others as required. Manages shift overtime and communicates with department leadership to fill callouts in the schedule; if unable to fill callouts, reports to work to complete staffing/ milieu needs. Understands and assists with state licensing regulations, The Joint Commission standards, HIPAA policy, state contract, ordinances, laws, or other regulations required of them in their position and acts consistently in obedience to same. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured 98-bed residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve hundreds of children and adolescents annually with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve. Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related field or a technical degree in areas of allied health.(Preferred)
Minimum:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, plus one year experience in mental health with demonstrable competence in required knowledge and responsibilities preferred. Valid driver's license in good standing. Satisfactory health, strength and stamina to meet the physical, mental and emotional demands and stressors.
The position requires:
walking, running, standing, lifting, irregular working hours, and assisting with the protective restraints. This position requires use of "Handle with Care" 21 years of age Flexible schedule Must attend the two-week orientation classes, Monday through Friday 08:30 am - 4:30 pm.
