Outreach Worker - CIP Gardena, CA Job Details Part-time $20.19 - $21.74 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Mileage reimbursement Qualifications Urdu Mandarin Conducting community outreach projects Record keeping Spanish YouTube Arabic Cantonese Filing Japanese Research Vietnamese Administrative experience Substance abuse prevention education Korean Driver's License Social media content creation Driving Substance abuse Farsi Tagalog Public affairs policy advocacy Armenian Entry level Khmer Full Job Description Role and Responsibilities The CIP Outreach Worker supports AOD-related, alcohol, and other drugs, including marijuana, prescription drugs, and associated drug education and information to youth and adult communities of the South Bay SPA 8 region. Assists Community Organizers (COs) with presentations, training, and outreach to drive change in youth access and use in the home and community. Prevention Education to Action encompasses life skills and cultural relevance to recognize diversity within environmental and social change campaigns. The CIP Outreach Worker receives guidance from CO I and CO II and is under the direct supervision of the Prevention CIP Coordinator.
TARGET AREA ORGANIZING
(70%):- Assist and support mobilization of policy campaigns to provide information relevant to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (AOD) prevention information in support of AOD policy actions;
- Assist with preparation and support of AOD education presentations, workshops, and trainings primarily in the South Bay, SPA 8 region.
- Supports the educational development of youth and adult coalition members in collaboration with local and regional prevention coalitions;
- Assist with conducting comprehensive community assessments of the assigned target areas in SPA 8, South Bay region.
- Conducts creative educational information using media advocacy (Social Media posts and reels, virtual training (live and recorded YouTube videos), podcasts
- Educate, inform, cultivate, and navigate ATOD issue awareness and support of City, County, and State decision-makers and City staff;
- Implements an SPF strategic action plan involving a youth and adult volunteer base;
- Provide recommendations to contract plans according to the emerging community needs, issues, and problems;
- This is a field-based position and requires the ability to utilize a personal vehicle to transport supplies, media, and equipment to and from community sites.
COUNTY-WIDE ORGANIZING
(15%):- Participate in County-based Roundtable and other coalition-based meetings.
- Assist with advocacy around local, state, and federal policy decisions.
ADMINISTRATIVE
(10%):- Comply with City, County, State, and Federal contractual agreements.
- Submit billing reports and other reporting requirements as assigned.
- Maintain accurate files on organizing activities and evaluations.
DEPARTMENT&AGENCY
(5%):- Attend Department and Agency-sponsored meetings and functions.
- Represent AADAP at local, state, and federal forums, conferences, and other activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills
- Bilingual or bicultural capabilities with Los Angeles County threshold languages: Arabic, Armenian, Cantonese, Farsi, Urdu, Khmer (Cambodian), Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Japanese, Samoan, Tongan, Hawaiian, and or other AAPI languages.
- Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of substance abuse (particularly alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drugs) and related issues
- Knowledge and understanding of the South Bay region
- Experience with research and evaluation methodologies General Requirements and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
- Permanent resident or U.S. Citizen; proof of work eligibility upon hiring.
- Valid California Driver's License and personal vehicle insurance
- Must have three (3) years of recovery or a drug-free lifestyle as of the date of the application.
- Ability to get along well with others, be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with a professional appearance and conduct.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, clients and their families, community organizations, and the general public.
- Ability to be culturally competent in age groups, gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and diverse cultures.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate Duty This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working or irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Ascending and descending ladders and staircases will be more frequent. An example is this position, which frequently involves moving and organizing agency supplies to outreach sites.AADAP, INC.
