Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties This position is located in the city of Sacramento. Under the direction of the Executive Office Staff Services Manager II and guidance from the designated employees, the Support Services Assistant-General (SSA-G) provides reasonable accommodation associated with work-related activities to support employees with disabilities with performing necessary job assignments, including providing a comfortable work environment (personal attendant care). The SSA-G is responsible for effectively assisting the employee with clerical, administrative and program job functions such as filing, labeling, photocopying, using the telephone, computer, and office machines in an effective and appropriate manner; reading confidential material, technical reports, reference manuals, computer screens, charts and faxed or small-sized font material; translating documents into an accessible electronic format; proofreading, editing and formatting Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint documents; completing travel reimbursements/authorizations and timesheets; handling confidential information; assisting with meeting preparation; work-related attendant care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs); and periodic travel, including driving and accompanying employees to offsite meetings and functions. Additionally, this position is responsible for attending to special needs to ensure a comfortable work setting by providing reasonable accommodation to the employee's physical and visual limitations. This position requires travel and a commitment of 20 hours per week. Working Conditions The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) accruals.
