The WEI Student Life Coach is a pivotal role responsible for eliminating student barriers, ensuring retention, and achieving an 80% completion rate among assigned program participants. The Life Coach works closely with students weekly, providing personalized support to guarantee students have the necessary resources, guidance, and encouragement to succeed academically and professionally. This position ensures full compliance with WEI policies and procedures and maintains up-to-date case notes and intake documentation to monitor and address student needs from the outset. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Additional related duties may be assigned. 1. Meet weekly with assigned students to provide coaching, monitor progress, and proactively address challenges impacting retention and course completion. 2. Conduct thorough intake meetings to identify and accommodate students' academic, personal, and logistical needs from program entry onward. 3. Develop individualized plans focused on eliminating barriers (e.g., transportation, childcare, financial, academic) that may impede student success. 4. Ensure students are fully prepared for classes by coordinating access to necessary materials, resources, and support services. 5. Monitor and enforce compliance with WEI policies and procedures designed to support student success and program integrity. 6. Maintain accurate and timely case notes and documentation in accordance with program requirements, updating records at least weekly. 7. Track student progress toward the goal of 80% program completion, providing interventions and referrals as needed to promote retention and success. 8. Collaborate with the WEI Program Director, instructors, and campus support services to coordinate wrap-around services such as transportation assistance, childcare, counseling, and academic support. 9. Facilitate group discussions, workshops, orientations, and graduation activities aligned with WEI goals. 10. Provide students with career readiness support, including job readiness skills and connection to employer resources. 11. Serve as a liaison between students and the college to resolve issues affecting attendance, academic performance, and overall engagement. 12. Maintain and update the student enrollment sheet accurately with current student status and compliance information to ensure complete and timely grant reporting. 13. Report student needs, challenges, and successes promptly to the Program Director and relevant staff. 14. Assist with program recruitment and outreach efforts as needed. 15. Attend professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge of best practices in student support. 16. Maintain regular, professional attendance and punctuality. 17. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Educational Counseling, Adult Education, or a related field is required. 1. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students, faculty, and staff is necessary. 2. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines 3. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary. 4. Higher education Student Affairs and/or academic, personal, or professional coaching experience is preferred. 5. Experience working with underserved or at-risk student populations strongly desired. 6. Experience with case management 7. Strong Administrative skills 8. Must be a team player with a clear understanding of the importance of meeting grant-related goals, student performance benchmarks, and compliance standards. Work Environment Work is primarily performed in an office setting and at various instructional sites. Frequent travel to multiple campus and community training locations is required. Must be comfortable moving between locations and adapting to classroom settings for student visits and coaching.
