School Principal or Athletic Director Position Summary The Student Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing athletic programs and extracurricular sports activities for students at Tindley Accelerated Schools. This position promotes student engagement, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership development, and physical wellness while ensuring compliance with school policies and athletic regulations. The Student Sports Coordinator works collaboratively with school leadership, coaches, students, parents, and community partners to create a positive and inclusive athletic environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee all school athletic programs, practices, games, and sports-related activities. Recruit, schedule, and support coaches, volunteers, and athletic staff. Ensure compliance with school, district, league, and state athletic policies and procedures. Maintain athletic schedules, transportation arrangements, facility usage, and event coordination. Monitor student athlete eligibility, attendance, academic performance, and conduct requirements. Promote student participation in athletics and encourage positive sportsmanship and teamwork. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members regarding athletic events and expectations. Assist with budgeting, purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms. Coordinate athletic registrations, forms, physicals, and required documentation. Ensure safety protocols are followed during practices, games, and athletic events. Support fundraising efforts and community partnerships for athletic programs. Address concerns, conflicts, or disciplinary matters related to student athletics in a professional and timely manner. Attend evening and occasional weekend athletic events as required. Maintain accurate records and reports related to athletics and student participation. Perform other duties as assigned by administration. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field preferred. Previous experience working in school athletics, youth sports, coaching, or student activities preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple schedules, priorities, and deadlines effectively. Knowledge of student athletic eligibility requirements and sports safety practices. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and supervise athletic activities for extended periods. Ability to lift and move athletic equipment up to 25 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment School and athletic facility environment. Frequent interaction with students, parents, staff, and community members. Evening and weekend work may be required during sports seasons and special events.
