  • Peer Overdose Response Team Recovery Coach is a person with lived experience recovering from a substance use disorder, codependency and trauma.
This position will work as a team member in a community setting that serves people who have recently overdosed through support, coaching, and solution planning. The Peer Recovery Coach will provide and maintain a supportive, hopeful, empathic, and engaging environment for overdose survivors seeking help. As a member of the team, this position will provide recovery coaching to help participants create a healthier way life. The right candidate for this position has 3-5 years in recovery, a strong self-care practice in place and is in a stable position to provide stability for participants in the program. Interest in holistic care practices is a requirement for the position. This position is 40 hours per week starting at $18 per hour. Hours are from 10:00 am
  • 7:00 pm Tuesday
  • Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am
  • 2:00 pm.
Qualifications:
maintain long-term stable recovery have experience working with people who have overdosed have personal experience in navigating complex substance use disorder(s) treatment services have a substance use disorder and have received treatment from a public or private provider have at least 2 years of sustained recovery be willing to publicly self
  • identify as being in recovery from substance use disorder, codependency, and trauma be willing to share his/her own story of recovery as an inspiration to others be able to obtain and maintain an MDHHS state Peer Recovery certification Complete a Trauma Informed Care training, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) training, Acudetox Training, EFT Training and Acudetox Training be able to take direction, be prompt, take initiative, complete tasks as assigned, and be able to work effectively as part of a team that includes community stakeholders should be articulate, and have good communication skills agrees to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Live by SHC's Core Values Have good computer skills such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, Video conferencing (Zoom) Access to high-speed internet away from the office Travel will be required for this position This is an on call position Recovery Coach must have a reliable vehicle Valid driver's license Submit to and pass a drug test prior to employment Submit to and pass random drug and alcohol testing Submit to and pass a law enforcement background check Maintain law enforcement access clearance
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
One-on-one coaching for mothers & other participants and support to those in need Ability to provide holistic care in the form of Acudetox & EFT (will be trained if not already) Respond as needed to referrals from community stakeholders Model self-care and provide a self-care plan Facilitate recovery support groups Participate in staff, community and program meetings Work regularly with law enforcement and community partners Participate in regular supervision Collect data and complete reports in a timely manner Provide community presentations of the project Participate in trainings other trainings
RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist with fulfilling basic needs such as food, clothing, arrange for shelter, etc. Facilitate recovery skills groups, as needed Provide assistance with crisis calls during times of high need Contribute to keeping the environment clean and comfortable for people served as well as co-workers Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies Adhere to established Quality Improvement Indicators Participate in training and orientation of new staff and interns Perform other job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE OF
Recovery Community Organization programs and services Recovery and trauma-informed care in a recovery community setting Holistic care practices such as yoga, reiki, acupuncture, meditation, etc.
ABILITY TO
Relate to a diverse population which includes a variety of age, economic and educational backgrounds Work independently and apply critical thinking and decision-making skills Understand and follow verbal and written instructions Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Consistently exercise superior customer service skills with both team members and individuals being served Demonstrate organizational skills with strong attention to detail Work in a multi-disciplinary environment and manage evolving needs
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED Certified Recovery Coach (MDHHS or CCAR) certification Valid driver's license and clean driving record 2+ years experience working with people with disabilities

Some local travel may be required (a capped mileage provided); The ability to work various shifts.
