Job Description

217 Recovery is seeking an individual with strong recovery experience, leadership potential, and a passion for helping others to join our team as a Recovery Coach . This position is designed for someone who wants to transform their recovery journey into meaningful work while receiving professional training, mentorship, and hands-on experience serving individuals affected by substance use disorder. The selected candidate will work directly with individuals seeking recovery support. Applicants who are already certified Recovery Coaches are encouraged to apply. For qualified candidates who are not yet certified, 217 Recovery will provide mentorship and support toward obtaining MDHHS Recovery Coach certification. Position Funding This position is currently funded through September 30, 2026 , with potential opportunities for continued employment based on future funding and organizational growth. What You'll Do Support individuals seeking recovery resources and services. Provide recovery coaching and peer support services. Help connect participants to treatment, recovery supports, transportation, housing, employment, and community resources. Participate in community outreach and recovery-focused events. Assist with educational and awareness activities that promote recovery and reduce stigma. Maintain professional documentation and program records. Work closely with experienced recovery professionals and community partners. Serve as a positive example of long-term recovery. Required Qualifications Multiple years of continuous recovery from substance use disorder. Strong personal and professional references. Passion for helping others achieve recovery. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license. Comfortable learning and using technology. Professional and positive presence on social media and in the community. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications MDHHS Certified Recovery Coach (CRC), Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC), Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS), or similar credential. Individuals not currently certified must be willing to complete Recovery Coach training and work toward certification. Experience providing peer support, mentoring, advocacy, outreach, or recovery support services. Strong public speaking and community engagement skills. Experience creating educational, outreach, or social media content. Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Experience with content creation and digital communication tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software. Comfortable learning and using technology, online databases, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and productivity software. Strong writing, storytelling, and communication skills.
