Full-Time, Non-Exempt Salary:
$38,000-$40,000 annually Position Summary The RHY Street Outreach Worker & Coach is responsible for engaging and supporting runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth through direct street outreach. This role also provides coaching and technical assistance to sub-recipient outreach staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery. The position focuses on connecting youth to safety, housing, and supportive services while strengthening outreach efforts across the network. Key Responsibilities Street Outreach & Direct Service Conduct outreach to identify and engage youth (ages 12-24) experiencing homelessness or instability Build trust using trauma-informed, youth-centered approaches Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and basic needs support Complete screenings, referrals, and service connections (TLP, RRH, shelter, etc.) Support youth in setting goals related to housing, education, and employment Maintain follow-up and document all services in HMIS Coaching & Sub-Recipient Support Provide mentorship and technical assistance to sub-recipient outreach staff Conduct regular check-ins to review progress, challenges, and outreach strategies Support implementation of trauma-informed care and best practices Assist with training, coordination, and performance alignment with grant requirements
Qualifications Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) 1-2 years working with at-risk or homeless youth Strong communication, organization, and crisis response skills Ability to work independently and in community settings Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends as needed)
Preferred:
Experience in street outreach or RHY-funded programs Experience coaching or mentoring staff Familiarity with HMIS and local housing/resources Work Environment & Expectations Regular travel to outreach locations and partner sites Community-based work, including outdoor and high-need environments Exposure to crisis situations requiring de-escalation and problem-solving Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and strong boundaries with youth Ensure compliance with RHY grant requirements and agency policies
