Job Description

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Greater Binghamton Health Center (GBHC) is recruiting for Social Work Assistant Trainee to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. As a Social Work Assistant Trainee at GBHC, you will work with an interdisciplinary team and duties will include: Willing and able to drive to Family Care homes in the Bronx and other appointments using a state vehicle Interviewing individuals and their families to gather background information Preparing case histories and determining eligibility for services Advocating and assisting individuals in identifying and obtaining services The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a bachelor's degree in a human service field. A licensed valid to drive in New York State is also required. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. The Social Work Assistant Traineeship is 1-year in length at the Salary Grade - 12. After the successful completion of the 1-year traineeship, trainees will advance to the full performance Social Work Assistant 1 level at Salary Grade -14 if their performance is considered satisfactory.
