Job Description

The Town of Andover DEI Commission invites applications for the Andover Community Connectors Internship (ACCI), a paid summer opportunity for college-aged individuals (18-30 years old, preferably Andover residents) to support community engagement and digital governance initiatives. Hosted in collaboration with Town departments including Elder Services, Public Health, Library, and IT, interns will advocate for underrepresented residents—new arrivals, seniors, and non-English speakers—by testing digital engagement tools and gathering feedback to enhance service accessibility. Conduct outreach at events (e.g., new resident mixers, senior gatherings) and via surveys (building on existing tools like Elder Services' survey) to identify communication barriers and preferences among target groups, interview and shadow departmental staff to assess engagement needs to build a knowledge base of resident interaction preferences and pilot 2-3 digital tools with residents and staff, evaluating: Resident Experience (Belonging & Empowerment) Accessibility (multilingual/intuitive design), perceived agency, trust/security Staff/Intern Experience (Efficiency & Insight) Workflow integration, data quality, compliance (MA Public Records Law, privacy) At conclusion of project, interns will deliver a final presentation to DEI Commission and department staff on project insights, civic duty, and municipal processes.
  • Interest in DEI, public service, policy, or digital tools; Andover familiarity a plus (intro to Town operations provided).

Outreach & Surveys Resident reach/diversity, insight quality: 20% Tool Evaluations Testing depth, compliance/metrics: 70% Final Presentation Clarity, impact reflection: 10%
Duration :
June to August 2026 (10-12 weeks)
Hours :
20-30 hours per week (flexible mix of in-person, field, and remote work).
Compensation :
