Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Peer Recovery Coach and Administrative Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery while also managing essential administrative functions. This energetic position combines compassionate peer support with organizational responsibilities, creating a rewarding environment dedicated to fostering hope, resilience, and well-being. You will serve as a positive influence, guiding clients through behavioral health challenges and ensuring smooth daily operations within our organization. Duties Provide peer-based recovery coaching by sharing lived experience to motivate and empower clients facing mental health and addiction challenges Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management to de-escalate situations and ensure client safety Support behavioral health initiatives through motivational interviewing and behavioral counseling techniques Assist with mental health counseling referrals and coordinate care plans in collaboration with clinical staff Maintain accurate records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, documenting client interactions and progress Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and maintaining organized files Serve as a mentor to clients, offering guidance, encouragement, and support throughout their recovery journey Skills Strong understanding of crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols Knowledge of behavioral health, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work principles Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others in recovery Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate positive change Experience working with EHR systems for documentation and recordkeeping Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, team members, and community partners Compassionate attitude combined with active listening skills to build trust and rapport This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing your skills in behavioral health support and administrative excellence.   • Current Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Coach credential (CPRC, CRPA, or equivalent)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health, recovery support, healthcare, or administrative support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic health record systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, or related field
  • Experience working in substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment settings
  • Experience with TherapyNotes or other EHR systems
  • Knowledge of recovery community resources
  • Experience with insurance verification or healthcare administration Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to move throughout office and treatment spaces as needed Schedule Expectations
  • Combination of administrative office coverage and direct client support
  • Some evening hours may be required depending on programming needs
  • Flexibility to support group schedules, admissions, and client needs
Pay:
$20.00 - $27.99 per hour
