Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Social Services to lead our social services department. The ideal candidate will oversee program development, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to individuals residing in long term care. This position involves helping residents with the social, emotional, and related difficulties associated with their medical condition(s), disabilities, and placement. The Social Services Director will utilize all available resources to effectively assist residents to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being for each resident. The Social Services Director will help direct the day-to-day functions of resident cares in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to the residents at all times.
Desired Qualifications Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: Possession of a bachelor's degree in social services, business administration, public administration, or a health related degree; and/or two year equivalency in practical experience. Two years experience in a long-term care facility or hospital.
Skills:
Good knowledge of the techniques of case recording and applying modern principals and practices of social casework to the duties of the position as well as a good working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and State department regulations and community services. The Social Services Director must possess the ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with people; ability to develop effective working relationships and deal diplomatically with residents, families, staff and the public; ability to organize work effectively; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to supervise others and direct work; ability to prepare clear and accurate records and reports; and have good powers of observation and analysis. Other necessary skills include the demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, effective communication with residents and family members, and within the facility and the Willow Health Care, Inc. community. Outstanding leadership, management skills, community involvement and a sound knowledge of regulations, relevant federal, state and local government regulations that govern long-term care facilities are required.
