PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Boys & Girls Club of Allentown is positioning itself to be the premier provider of Youth Development Programs in our area through targeted outreach initiatives, strategic partnerships with schools and local governments, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. The Boys & Girls Club of Allentown has been a pillar of youth programming in the community for generations. Under the supervision of the Director of Programs and Operations, the Area Director is responsible for program excellence across all programming areas within our Clubhouses, with a primary focus on outcome-driven programs and experiences for youth. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of managerial-level staff and for the selection, development, and deployment of programs and activities that foster appropriate developmental growth. This role requires innovation, dedication, the ability to supervise staff at multiple locations, and a willingness to evaluate and improve.
KEY ROLES

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
):
- Provides direction for managerial-level staff in recruitment, retention, evaluation, and professional development
- Inspires and empowers managerial staff to develop a Club Culture consistent with the organization's values and community needs that is consistent with membership core competencies established by Boys & Girls Clubs of America
- Actively work to foster an environment rich in giving and receiving feedback in a direct and honest way
- Ensures all program participants, families, and staff are provided with a safe environment, free from emotional or physical harm, and ensures that all facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained
- Works to increase overall organizational capacity to deliver high-quality Club programs through various methods that reflect organizational policies and procedures, strategies, goals, and values
- Conceptualizes and plans new opportunities to increase impactful programming through the vetting and development of curriculum and community partnerships
- Assesses the needs, interests, and characteristics of youth to develop targeted programs that result in an outcome-driven Club experience
- Ensures full compliance with all policies and procedures, and ensures proper documentation and records are maintained
- Ensures the timely and effective execution of the performance management systems, including a staff development and training program as part of overall succession planning, as well as facilitating training
- Be prepared yet flexible daily

- Establishes the highest levels of program implementation that include accountability, review, reflection, and adaptation
- Provide transportation in the company fleet to and from Clubhouses, which includes transporting staff and youth as needed
- Lead in developing and cultivating partnerships with community organizations and school districts to advance Club programs
- Ensure timely collection of paperwork related to USDA and other grant programs
- Works with the Director of Programming and Operations to increase safety scores on annual BGCA safety assessments
- Establishes the highest levels of program quality and provides training, tools, and reports to meet quality metrics that include accountability, review, reflection, and adaptation
- Assist in budget development, tracking, and reporting; controls all expenditures against the budget
- Ensure that the appropriate program supplies are available at each location and the facilities meet safety and cleanliness standards
- Work with the buildings and grounds manager to ensure all annual inspections are complete for all Club facilities
- Approach conversations with youth and peers full of curiosity
- Ingrain the five key elements for positive youth development targeted program effectiveness into the Club's culture, including safe & positive environment, fun, recognition, supportive relationships, opportunities, and expectations
- Work in conjunction with other staff to develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services, and activities within the Club and the community
- Oversee all programmatic reporting for grants
- Ensures monthly ADA targets are achieved, and compiles monthly Club ADA trend reports
- Be reliable and dependable by arriving on time every day, ready to fulfill obligations
- Additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Must have a valid driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCA. Must be 21 years old or older to drive Club-owned and operated vehicles
- A minimum of five years' work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, with at least two in a significant supervisory capacity
- Considerable knowledge of the mission, priority outcomes, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations
- Demonstrated skills in project management, including developing, implementing, and tracking processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of, interest in, and respect for the communities the Clubs serve
- Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff
- Ability to manage multiple projects and develop solutions to problems while maintaining a positive attitude
- Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
- Demonstrated ability working with community members, parents, and young people
- Progressive supervisory experience, multi-site preference
- Experience with USDA food programs
- Ability to analyze data and produce reports required
- Be enthusiastic for the mission and motivated to learn new skills on the job
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines and goals
- CPR/First Aid Card Training, background check, and safety certificates required before employment.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
(As required by the Americans with Disabilities Act) Work is primarily performed in indoor environments, with occasional outdoor activities. The position requires standing and walking for extended periods while supervising youth. May require lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work involves supervising youth in active environments with moderate noise and movement.
