JOB DESCRIPTION
The Volunteer Specialist is directly responsible to the Volunteer Coordinator for patient/family needs and services. The Volunteer Specialist is responsible for coordinating and communicating with volunteers and team for Canyon Home Care and Hospice.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Schedule, and supervise the volunteer program. 2. Introduce volunteers to patients and families. 3. Responsible for volunteer documentation, including patient care records, hours, and in-service participation. 4. Conduct pre- and post- training interviews, summarize volunteer training evaluations. 5. Plan, organize, and attend volunteer training sessions, volunteer support meetings and in-services. 6. Document active and ongoing efforts to recruit and retain volunteers. 7. Conduct initial and ongoing volunteer satisfaction surveys and evaluations. 8. Assist with planning community education. Participate in speaking and organizing community educational offerings as needed. 9. Assist with fund raising activities at request of Volunteer Coordinator. 10. Provide direct supervision of the volunteers and be available for questions anytime they are on assignment and may need assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Administrative skills One year of supervisory experience and community service work. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish a supportive and sensitive approach to volunteer and patient/ family needs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Works indoors in the Agency office and travels to/from patient homes and/or facilities.
