In this energetic role, you will serve as a vital connector between clients, landlords, and community resources, helping to secure safe, affordable housing options while providing compassionate support. Your proactive approach and expertise will empower high-risk populations and underserved communities to achieve stability and independence. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic social services environment committed to fostering equitable housing opportunities for all. Duties Assist clients in navigating housing assistance programs such as Section 8, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other HUD (Housing and Urban Development) regulations. Conduct thorough client assessments to determine eligibility for various housing programs and support services. Engage in effective negotiation with landlords and property management companies to secure affordable housing solutions aligned with client needs. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management support to clients facing urgent housing or mental health issues. Utilize property management tools like OneSite to document case progress, track client interactions, and maintain accurate records. Apply knowledge of fair housing laws, landlord-tenant law, and social work principles to ensure compliance and advocate for clients' rights. Collaborate with culturally diverse communities and high-risk populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health conditions, delivering tailored case management and social services. Employ motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward housing stability and self-sufficiency. Experience Proven experience working with individuals from underserved communities, including those experiencing homelessness or mental health challenges. Strong background in social services, case management, or related fields with a focus on housing assistance programs. Familiarity with landlord-tenant law, fair housing regulations, HUD regulations, LIHTC programs, Section 8 vouchers, and property management tools such as OneSite. Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with landlords and property managers while advocating for client needs. Experience working with culturally diverse populations using sensitive communication strategies. Knowledge of addiction counseling techniques and working with individuals with high-risk behaviors is a plus. Excellent client communication skills combined with crisis intervention expertise to support clients through complex situations confidently.
