Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Peer Support Specialist and become a vital part of transforming lives through compassionate, peer-driven care. In this role, you will provide empathetic support, mentorship, and guidance to individuals navigating behavioral health challenges, including mental health and addiction recovery. Responsibilities Offer peer-based support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, fostering trust and motivation. Utilize crisis intervention skills to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for clients and staff alike. Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans, setting achievable goals, and navigating available behavioral health resources. Document interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to maintain comprehensive client records. Apply motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral change and reinforce clients' strengths. Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care and share insights from peer support experiences. Participate in ongoing training on crisis management, behavioral health best practices, and addiction counseling methods. Skills Proven ability in crisis intervention and crisis management to handle urgent situations effectively. Strong understanding of behavioral health issues, mental health counseling principles, and addiction recovery processes. Excellent mentoring skills with a compassionate approach that inspires hope and resilience. Knowledge of social work practices and familiarity with EHR systems for accurate documentation. Skilled in motivational interviewing techniques to promote engagement and positive change. Effective communication skills tailored to diverse populations with sensitivity and respect. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to client-centered care.
