COMMUNITY SERVICES FACILITY LEADER

3:00 P.M., MONDAY, JULY 6, 2026 The City of Mission Viejo seeks a candidate with a passion for arts & cultural programs, demonstrated office experience, and strong customer service & leadership skills to serve as our next Community Services Facility Leader at the Potocki Center for the Arts. If selected, you will staff the front desk, interact with art instructors and students; assist with planning & implementing arts programs & events; and will provide technical services using the City's online class registration system PerfectMind. There is one (1) current vacancy within the Library & Cultural Services Department assigned to the Potocki Center for the Arts. The Potocki Center for the Arts is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, with additional open hours on weekends for scheduled classes and events. While the primary work schedule for this position will be Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the candidate must have flexibility to work weekend events. The actual work schedule will be based on the needs of the City for the particular work week.
SEARCH SCHEDULE
The first round of Zoom interviews is tentatively scheduled for some time during the week of July 13, 2026. Only one date will be available for an applicant to attend. The City will not accommodate applicant scheduling requests for alternate dates. It is recommended that you plan your calendar accordingly when you apply. Community Services Facility Leaders are considered at-will Hourly, Seasonal, and/or Temporary variable hour employees, and are not a part of the competitive service. Incumbents will work a flexible schedule, with an average of 12 to 19 hours per week, with increased scheduling during peak workload periods, but less than 1,000 hours during the assignment through the fiscal year starting July 1st and ending June 30th. The eligibility list established for this current recruitment may be used to fill future Community Services Facility Leader vacancies.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Your impact Promote arts and cultural programs and services and get the public excited about the abundance of opportunities the department provides; Support implementation of a wide variety of art classes and camps for all ages; Assist with management of Potocki Center parking lot for students and instructors, which may include moving cones and signs; Assist with dynamic arts and cultural programming, including offerings such as the annual Symphony in the Cities concert with Pacific Symphony; Shakespeare by the Sea; and other live performances; Assist with art exhibit installations and artist receptions in City facilities; Promote and support programs and services that fulfill the goals of the Cultural Services Master Plan; and Provide excellent customer service to a range of user groups in the Potocki Center for the Arts facility. Your Team The members of the Mission Viejo Library & Cultural Services Department are passionate and dedicated to enriching the lives of their community through arts and culture. Cultural Services hosts hundreds of classes and provides dozens of programs throughout the year. IDEAL CANDIDATE
Enthusiastic promoter of arts & culture programming and services; Able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week with flexibility to adjust schedule based on event scheduling; Possesses excellent communication and customer services skills in person and over the telephone; Able to work independently while supervising facilities and user groups; Knowledge of software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Canva & PerfectMind and has the ability & desire to learn new programs; Able to handle difficult situations, effectively solve problems, and identify solutions; Has experience opening, closing, and securing facilities independently; and Able to meet physical requirements to prepare rooms prior to start of class and clean-up afterward, which includes lifting, moving, & carrying objects that typically weigh up to 40 pounds.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years of experience in community services, cultural arts, and/or facility operation and maintenance . Previous facility management/security experience preferred. Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of appointment.
Required Certificates:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain, the following certificates within three (3) months of hire: Standard First Aid Certificate American Red Cross or American Heart Association Automated External Defibrillator (AED) andCardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) for Infant, Child, and Adult
