Full Job Description TITLE:
Assistant Shelter SupervisorPRIMARY FUNCTION
The Assistant Shelter Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shelters ensuring the health, safety and well-being of staff and residents.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Assistant Shelter Supervisor reports to the Homeless Youth Supervisor.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates and maintains monthly Homeless Youth Staff schedules
- Acts as the first point of contact for Homeless Youth Staff for shelter related issues. Coordinates and responds to staff coverage issues
- Assists with interviewing, hiring and training of new Homeless Youth Staff.
- Oversee shelter training requirements, including fracking sending, collecting and managing training files for all shelter staff
- Assists in the monitoring of staff duties, reporting and addressing concerns and developing forms as needed
- Maintains and enforces Homeless Youth Staff cleaning schedule for building and apartments
- Oversee all homeless program buildings/furniture needs and maintenance requests. Assists with file and furniture storage organization on and offsite
- Act as a liaison with landlords on building issues
- Set up and maintain service providers/vendors for the shelters
- Attends mandatory meetings, in-services and training
- Produce agency reports as requested by agency grants
- Oversees laundry drop-off and pick-up
- Oversees ISBE approved menu planning, grocery shopping/pick up, food bank order/pick up.
- Maintains Food Handler/Food Sanitation and other training as necessary.
- Oversees supply and food inventory, storage, and pantry rotation and disposal alongside Community Outreach Coordinator
- Coordinates fire drills, develops maintenance requests, and prepares for monitoring reviews by different agencies
- Assists case managers with shelter and transitional living program residents service plan goals
- Assist with computer systems, participate in computer management system trainings, and assist with technical support for agency staff on computer management systems
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency is required. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree, social services field is preferred.
- Work experience or related experience with youth.
- Valid driver's license.
- Pass a DCFS background check.
- Pass a physical and TB test.
- CPR/First Aide Certified.
