Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to provide peer based recovery support, mentoring and coaching to individuals impacted by substance use disorders. This role supports recovery through empowerment, skill building, and connection to services in a mission driven, supportive environment. RESPONSIBILITIES
Recovery Mentoring/Coaching:
Serve as a role model to consumer in recovery Establish and maintain a peer relationship Teach life skills Assure consumers know their rights and responsibilities Teach consumers how to self-advocate
Recovery Support Services:
Help the consumer identify options to achieve recovery goals Help the consumer develop problem solving skills Help the consumer access the services of substance use professionals when needed to sustain their recovery Help the consumer identify their strengths and how to use those strengths to maintain recovery Meet minimum billing and productivity standards Some evenings and weekends are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required Minimummof 2 years sobriety required Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage time , prioritze tasks, and work independently. Demonstrate professionalsm and leadership Willingness to obtain Peer Support Specialist Certification within six months of hire Valid Class E driver's license (MO residents) Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in substance use treatment or behavioral health Knowledge of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Understanding of addiction and substance use disorders. Trauma-informed care and crisis intervention suicide prevention and behavior management techniques. medication awareness, including Naxone HIPAA compliance and thical conduct Mandated reporting requirements Cultural humility and effective communication across diverse propulations.
