OVERVIEW
Position Summary
At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, Family Support Specialists are catalysts for positive change, helping youth and families build stronger, healthier futures. This role blends compassionate in-home, school-based, and community support with evidence-based interventions to foster the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children. By empowering youth to thrive in their homes, schools, and communities, Family Support Specialists make a lasting difference in daily life and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support
Direct Youth Support:
Provide consistent, therapeutic support in school, home, and community environments in compliance with agency standards.
Organizational Contribution:
Support YBGR's mission and strategic goals by participating in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives and organizational objectives.
Client Care
Develop Individualized Plans:
Create and implement evidence-based intervention strategies tailored to the unique needs of each youth.
Collaboration:
Partner with treatment teams, supervisors, educators, community stakeholders, and families to ensure comprehensive care and support for youth. Meet with assigned Therapist for weekly case consultation, training, and guidance.

Documentation:
Accurately complete all required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in compliance with agency standards.
Performance
Professional Representation:
Maintain professional conduct and represent YBGR positively to internal and external stakeholders.
Ongoing Development:
Participate in regular supervision, professional development, and required training.
Other Duties:
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support agency operations and client needs.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age. Successful completion of fingerprint criminal background check and child abuse registry clearance as required by the State of Montana. Bachelor's degree in a human services field or equivalent combination of education and experience (6 years human services experience = Bachelor's degree; each year of post-secondary human services education = 1 year experience). Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention certifications.
Initiative
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a treatment team, including with the assigned school district. Demonstrated ability to build rapport with youth and families while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries. Consistent attendance and reliability in performance of duties. Sound judgment, ethical decision-making, and the ability to remain composed in high-stress situations.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution. Proficiency in electronic documentation, typing at least 35 words per minute; familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 preferred. Will be required to drive company or personal vehicle to other YBGR locations and/or families' homes, schools, and communities to meet with employees, youth, families, or other stakeholders.
