Greensboro, NC Job Details Full-time 21 hours ago Qualifications Professional ethics English High school diploma or GED Driver's License Full Job Description The mission of the Peer Specialist is to assist persons served by providing services and supports necessary to assist the recipient in achieving and maintaining rehabilitative, sobriety, and recovery goals. This is intended to meet the mental health or substance abuse needs of adults who have significant functional impairments that seriously interfere with or impede their roles or functioning in family, school, or community. Tasks include assessments, planning, linkage, advocacy, and monitoring. The Peer Specialist works with the person to obtain entitlements, resources, housing, educational opportunities, employment, etc. to enable the person to become independent and functional. The Peer Specialist serves a broad range case load consistent with credentials and experience. The Peer Specialist consistently exercises discretion and sound judgment in the performance of the duties of the position. A High School diploma and documented proof of past mental health with at least two documented years of recovery. Experience in one or more areas of specialized services provided by the program is preferred. Experience working as an advocate or peer-specialist within an interdisciplinary treatment team with adults with severe and persistent mental illness/substance abuse is also preferred. Certification as a peer specialist is required.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's and unrestricted license. Must present credentials that are current and valid and meet safe driving requirements. Must submit to a driving record and criminal background screening. Must be capable of satisfactorily performing all job functions and tasks with minimal supervision. Must be able to maintain the highest level of ethical standards and professional relationships. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including an excellent command of the English language. Must be able to complete required training re: NCI, CPR/First Aid, HIPPA, Exposure control, Person-Centered Thinking, Client Rights, Peer Support, and
