docx Safeguarding / Domestic Abuse Officer (Fixed Term) Job description We are seeking a committed and experienced Safeguarding & Domestic Abuse professional to join our team on a fixed term basis for 2 years. This role is central to ensuring that children, young people and adults are safeguarded effectively. You will play a key role in coordinating safeguarding responses, supporting statutory partners and driving improvement in domestic abuse practice, ensuring we meet our statutory duties as a local authority.
Key responsibilities:
  • Working alongside the council's Safeguarding Lead, act as a subject‑matter lead on domestic abuse within the organisation.
  • Provide professional advice and challenge to services in relation to safeguarding concerns.
  • Contribute to multi‑agency domestic abuse arrangements and partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures.
  • Contribute to audits, reviews and inspections.
  • Support workforce development through training, guidance and awareness‑raising.
You will bring:
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, particularly the Domestic Abuse Act.
  • Experience of working alongside safeguarding and domestic abuse services.
  • Confidence working in complex, multi‑agency environments and providing professional challenge where necessary.
  • The ability to analyse risk, apply professional judgement and influence practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with professionals and partners.
