This is not a clipboard job. This is a calling. Our Peer Support Specialists walk alongside patients in our detox unit during one of the hardest moments of their lives. If you have solid sobriety, a personal connection to the 12-step program, a passion for spirituality and wellness, and the natural hospitality of someone who makes people feel seen and welcomed — we want to talk. What You'll Do Build trusting, authentic relationships with patients rooted in shared lived experience and mutual respect Facilitate recovery-focused groups including wellness, coping skills, spirituality, and 12-step introduction sessions Provide individual peer support focused on recovery planning, goal setting, and personal accountability Help patients develop and maintain personal recovery plans Advocate for patient needs and connect individuals to community resources, aftercare options, and peer support networks Model healthy behaviors, clear boundaries, and recovery-oriented thinking every single day Bring genuine hospitality to every patient interaction — greet people by name, anticipate needs, and create an environment where patients feel safe, respected, and cared for What We're Looking For Personal recovery experience — you've done the work, you understand the journey, and you bring that authenticity into every interaction Familiarity with and appreciation for the 12-step program — you value it as a pathway and can speak to it credibly with patients A passion for spirituality and wellness — you bring curiosity, openness, and a genuine belief that recovery is about the whole person The hospitality gene — you think like a great waiter or a luxury hotel concierge. You're proactive, warm, attentive, and you never make someone feel like a burden Group facilitation skills — you're comfortable in front of a room, you can hold space, manage group dynamics, and keep people engaged Peer Support Specialist certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain High school diploma or GED required ; additional education in behavioral health a plus Why Bold Steps We're a licensed inpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment organization in New Jersey. We take clinical excellence seriously — and we take culture just as seriously. The people who thrive here are mission-driven, team-oriented, and show up every day like it matters. Because it does.
