Job Description
Peer Support Specialist Las Vegas Recovery Hospital Candidates must hold a current Nevada Peer Support Certification to be considered for this position. Las Vegas Recovery Hospital is a premier drug and alcohol acute care facility dedicated to supporting individuals on their path to recovery. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to promote meaningful engagement in treatment and support long-term recovery by modeling, educating, advocating, and encouraging individuals during inpatient care. This role ensures adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Peer-Based Recovery Support Provide recovery-oriented support, coaching, and encouragement to patients during inpatient treatment Build rapport through active listening and therapeutic relationship-building Assist patients in developing individualized, community-supported recovery plans Administrative and Clinical Support Collaborate closely with Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS), clinical, and medical staff Accurately document recovery progress and interactions in the EMR system Maintain and manage patient closet inventory Community Engagement and Milieu Support Participate in and support patient leisure activities and therapeutic milieu events Facilitate small group sessions focused on goal setting, discharge planning, and recovery skills Patient Escort and Assistance Escort patients to internal and external appointments as needed Coordinate transportation for off-site meetings and services Monitor and support patients during meals Post-Discharge and Follow-Up Conduct post-discharge follow-up calls to support continuity of care and track recovery progress Additional Responsibilities Respond to de-escalation calls and assist in organizing on-site activities Support physician rounds, including assisting with vital signs when needed Assist with smoke breaks, isolation sessions, and patient transportation Implement the Buddy Program and document group and support sessions Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of addiction recovery principles and evidence-based methodologies Ability to provide peer-based support to individuals in treatment Knowledge of relapse prevention strategies and coping skills education Ability to model healthy behaviors and maintain therapeutic boundaries Understanding of co-occurring mental health disorders and trauma-informed care Experience facilitating group sessions in a treatment setting Commitment to quality, safety, and compliance with hospital policies
