This position is essential to the daily operation of the home, ensuring that children receive consistent supervision, guidance, and support. House Parents play a critical role in promoting safety, stability, and positive development for each child in care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide daily supervision, care, and nurturing support for children placed in the home Work collaboratively with Relief House Parents to ensure consistent coverage and care Meet the physical, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of each child Prepare and serve meals in accordance with nutritional standards Administer and document medications in compliance with agency and state regulations Transport children to school, medical appointments, and community activities using agency vehicles Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and required records Maintain a clean, safe, and structured home environment , including routine housekeeping Monitor and support children's: Personal hygiene Academic performance Behavior and social development Communicate regularly with case managers, therapists, and leadership regarding child progress and concerns Report illnesses, incidents, and behavioral concerns in accordance with agency policy Assist with purchasing clothing, school supplies, and personal care items for children Ensure compliance with all Apple Grove policies, state regulations, and licensing standards Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while building supportive relationships with youth Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the home Qualifications Must be at least 23 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred) Minimum of 2 years experience working with children, foster care, or in a caregiving role Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Own Reliable transportation Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and required clearances CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach, and perform household tasks Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations, including performing CPR and First Aid Ability to complete cleaning, cooking, and daily household responsibilities Must provide documentation from a licensed physician confirming ability to perform job duties if required Work Environment Residential foster care/group home setting May be a live-in position or extended shift schedule Requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays High level of responsibility for safety, supervision, and well-being of children Core Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills Patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence Crisis management and problem-solving abilities Organization and documentation skills Ability to maintain structure, boundaries, and consistency
