Posting Details Position Information Position Title Part-Time Adjunct Instructor - Youth Development Professional Program Department Educational Opportunity Center Posting Number F260034 Posting Link ubjobs.buffalo.postings61814 Employer State Faculty Appointment Term Temporary Position Type UUP Faculty Posting Detail Information Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Position Summary The Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) invites candidates who can enthusiastically inspire and engage students as a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor for the Youth Development Professional Program. Candidates should have the ability to teach seated, remote, and online courses.
Academic Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge and understanding of subject matter. Provides students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in assigned subject(s).
  • Develops and delivers engaging and informative lectures, presentations, and hands-on activities that demonstrate how Youth Development Professionals play an important role in nurturing and guiding young individuals through life's various challenges and milestones.
  • Designs course curriculum, learning objectives, and assessments aligned with industry standards and best practices.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to students, fostering their understanding of theoretical concepts and practical applications.
  • Incorporates real-world examples, case studies, and guest speakers to enhance learning experiences and the relevance of the subject matter.
  • Facilitates discussions and collaborative projects that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork among students.
  • Evaluates students' performance and provides effective and timely feedback to guide student learning and success.
  • Collaborates with designated Student Services staff to assist students with succession plans to either advance into postsecondary cation, training opportunities, andor a job.
  • Participates in regularly schled meetings related to the Youth Development Professional Program with other EOCs and community organizations offering similar programming.
  • Uses effective and timely communication strategies and methods to communicate with various stakeholders regarding the Youth Development Professional Program.
About the Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center The Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) is an adult cation enterprise, of the State University of New York, University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD), with an annual enrollment of 1,940 students, that provides urban andor disadvantaged residents in the Western New York area with tuition-free academic programs, workforce development training and certifications, and gainful employment opportunities. The mission of BEOC is to produce lifelong learners who are self-directed, empowered, and committed to excellence. Residents of the surrounding Buffalo community are provided a range of services designed to develop the academic and workforce development skills necessary to become self-sufficient.   • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of previous experience working with youth in cational, non-profit, or community-based settings.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and behavioral management techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • An equivalent combination of cation and experience will be considered. Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
  • Prior experience in planning programs and activities designed to foster academic, social, and emotional growth in young people.
  • Experience developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage underserved youth communities.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple content areas and theoretical frameworks within stated discipline, as well as issues related to diversity and multiculturalism.
  • Experience teaching in adult cation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software and ability to work with computers and cation related databases.
  • Experience working with academically under-prepared andor economically disadvantaged adults.
Physical Demands May be required to occasionally move items that are 11 to 20 pounds. Includes frequent moving, ascendingdescending stairs, and positioning self to move carts.
