Position Summary The Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) invites candidates who can enthusiastically inspire and engage students as a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor for the Youth Development Professional Program. Candidates should have the ability to teach seated, remote, and online courses.
Academic Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates sound knowledge and understanding of subject matter. Provides students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in assigned subject(s).
- Develops and delivers engaging and informative lectures, presentations, and hands-on activities that demonstrate how Youth Development Professionals play an important role in nurturing and guiding young individuals through life's various challenges and milestones.
- Designs course curriculum, learning objectives, and assessments aligned with industry standards and best practices.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to students, fostering their understanding of theoretical concepts and practical applications.
- Incorporates real-world examples, case studies, and guest speakers to enhance learning experiences and the relevance of the subject matter.
- Facilitates discussions and collaborative projects that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork among students.
- Evaluates students' performance and provides effective and timely feedback to guide student learning and success.
- Collaborates with designated Student Services staff to assist students with succession plans to either advance into postsecondary cation, training opportunities, andor a job.
- Participates in regularly schled meetings related to the Youth Development Professional Program with other EOCs and community organizations offering similar programming.
- Uses effective and timely communication strategies and methods to communicate with various stakeholders regarding the Youth Development Professional Program.

- 3 years of previous experience working with youth in cational, non-profit, or community-based settings.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and behavioral management techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- An equivalent combination of cation and experience will be considered. Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
- Prior experience in planning programs and activities designed to foster academic, social, and emotional growth in young people.
- Experience developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage underserved youth communities.
- Knowledgeable in multiple content areas and theoretical frameworks within stated discipline, as well as issues related to diversity and multiculturalism.
- Experience teaching in adult cation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft software and ability to work with computers and cation related databases.
- Experience working with academically under-prepared andor economically disadvantaged adults.
