Certified Peer Specialists offer peer support to promote growth, recovery, and wellness for individuals managing mental health.
Responsibilities:
Serve as an advocate to the individuals Provide information and support Assist people with a wide variety of services Help identify goals Share info on public services, education and job skills Lead weekly groups Ability to work weekends and afternoons
Education:
High School High School Diploma or GED Either have a valid PA driver's license or ability to obtain one
Experience:
2 months Already completed the 2 week Department of Human Services or OMHSAS approved Certified Peer Specialist Training Complete 75 hours of peer training and pass the PCB exam Required to complete an additional 18 hours of training annually, 12 of those hours must focus on peer support and/or recovery practices
Related Experience:
Must have current or prior mental health to be role model and also gain relationships with peers and staff, Must have own transportation to/from work, Travel off site when required in company vehicle, Able to work with people in team setting, Excellent communication skills, Must have strong documentation skills to meet regulations, Participate in weekly treatment team and monthly interagency meetings
