The ideal candidate will have direct experience working with the NYC shelter system and a strong working knowledge of NYC housing vouchers and rental assistance programs . This position requires someone who understands the NYC housing landscape, can navigate housing applications and eligibility requirements, and can effectively advocate for clients throughout the housing placement process. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, Housing, or a related field preferred but equivalent relevant experience may be considered . 2+ years of experience working in affordable housing, homelessness services, supportive housing, shelter services, or a related field. Experience working directly with NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) shelter programs. Experience with CityFHEPS, HASA, Section 8, HUD, NYCHA, LINC, SEPS , or other NYC rental assistance programs. Knowledge of NYC affordable housing resources, eligibility requirements, and housing placement processes. Experience assisting clients with affordable housing applications and housing placement. Duties Client Identification and Housing Navigation Identify clients who may qualify for affordable housing opportunities. Guide clients through housing applications, eligibility reviews, interviews, document collection, apartment viewings, and lease-up activities. Help clients obtain identification, income and benefits verification, and other documents required for housing applications. Housing Benefits and Client Advocacy Provide guidance on NYC housing vouchers and rental assistance programs, including CityFHEPS, Section 8, and other applicable subsidies. Advocate for clients to resolve housing barriers, prevent placement delays, and support long-term housing stability. Coordination and Partnerships Coordinate with the housing navigation team, shelter case managers, landlords, property managers, brokers, government agencies, and other service providers throughout the placement process. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners that support successful housing outcomes. Documentation, Tracking, and Compliance Track applications, appointments, required documentation, inspections, and lease-up milestones. Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records in accordance with program and compliance requirements. Program Knowledge Maintain current knowledge of NYC affordable housing programs, voucher policies, shelter procedures, eligibility requirements, and related housing resources.
