As the longest running supper program in Boston, FNSP has served its guests through power outages, blizzards, and pandemics. We haven't missed a Friday since our inception in 1984! We have an exciting opportunity for an established or aspiring nonprofit leader to join our team as the new Program Coordinator. As the Program Coordinator at FNSP, you'll work with a team of 2 other staff members and numerous volunteers to ensure that we continue to provide consistent, quality programming to our community members and dinner guests. This is a part-time position (approximately 10 hours per week, with additional remote hours as needed) working closely with the Executive Director and Kitchen Manager. It's a great opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student interested in nonprofit management, or a professional seeking a fulfilling part-time role. Responsibilities of the
Program Coordinator:
- Leading, and engaging volunteers (individuals and groups) and encouraging active participation of volunteers in all areas of the Program's operations, under the supervision of the ED
- Being a constant presence at the Program on Fridays from approximately 12:00pm-8:00pm, with the exception of pre-arranged days off (2 per year).
- In the event the Kitchen Manager or the Executive Director are unable to attend the Program, the Program Coordinator is expected to run the operations of the Program with the assistance of the staff present (KM or ED) and the volunteers.
- Emergency preparedness and de-escalation of guest conflict and aberrant behaviors in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the FNSP kitchen, clothing closet, and facilities.
- Maintaining a positive relationship with program guests. This includes supervision of guests while they are at the program, ensuring their meal needs are met within reason, creating a safe and positive environment within the hall for our guests, and ensuring that all guests are treated in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Creating a weekly update following each service & sending it over to the ED.
- Updating all social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Linked in. (As needed).
- Creating the first draft of the monthly Newsletter.
- Assisting the ED with the Annual Report.

This is a part-time position requiring approximately 10-15 hours/week. It is required to be on-site every Friday from 12-8pm, and the rest of the work can be done remotely. Pay is commensurate with experience, starting at $19/hour.
