The Peer Support Specialist will provide a wide range of supports based on the families' needs. Families served are those with a child(ren) who need Care Coordination to navigate the behavioral health, school and juvenile justice systems, as well as connect and engage in the most appropriate services. They serve as a role model, coach, and mentor while connecting individuals to resources and the community, and advocating for the wishes and rights of the person served. They may also educate by facilitating support and skills groups, and assisting individuals in articulating their personal goals and achieving them, while promoting self-direction, wellness and recovery. The expectation is that the peer specialist has progressed significantly enough in their journey of navigating the behavioral health system for their child and/or family member in order to support others. the candidate is willing to aquire the necessary training and certification to work as a Certified Peer Specialist. High School or GED required.
