Job Summary •Must have peer support certification• New agency seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our team and champion the journey of recovery for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. Looking for candidates who knows how to get out there in the community. In this vital role, you will serve as a compassionate advocate, providing peer-led support that empowers clients to achieve their personal goals. Your lived experience and understanding of behavioral health will be instrumental in fostering hope, resilience, and community connection. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working within a dynamic, culturally inclusive environment committed to recovery and wellness. Duties Offer peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health conditions or substance use disorders, sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope. Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans, utilizing harm reduction strategies and client-centered approaches. Provide crisis management and crisis intervention during urgent situations, ensuring safety and appropriate follow-up care. Collaborate with clinical teams by maintaining accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems, respecting patient confidentiality at all times. Facilitate group activities, support groups, or educational sessions focused on behavioral health, addiction counseling, and social skills development. Advocate for clients' needs by connecting them with community resources, culturally diverse services, and support networks. Promote recovery peer support principles by empowering clients through mentoring, active listening, and respectful communication. Experience Demonstrated experience working with individuals with mental health conditions or co-occurring disorders in community or clinical settings. Strong background in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support techniques. Familiarity with addiction counseling, harm reduction practices, and social work principles. Proven ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities and promote inclusivity in service delivery. Experience sharing personal recovery stories to motivate others while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. Knowledge of peer support advocacy strategies and client communication best practices. Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
