August 1, 2026 Position Summary The Volunteer Coordinator (Training, Recruitment & Foundational Advocacy) strengthens CASA of the Lincoln Trail's mission by leading volunteer recruitment, managing new volunteer onboarding, coordinating preservice training, supporting ongoing volunteer development, and assisting with community outreach efforts. This role is ideal for a relationship‑driven, organized professional who enjoys guiding volunteers through their first steps into advocacy and helping them grow in their role. To ensure strong foundational knowledge of CASA work, the Coordinator will complete CASA preservice training and carry one CASA case. This limited caseload provides firsthand experience with court processes, trauma-informed practice, and collaboration with stakeholders, equipping the Coordinator to train volunteers with confidence and authenticity. This position does not include ongoing volunteer supervision or broader case management responsibilities. Occasional administrative tasks may be assigned, including scanning or processing court documentation. The Coordinator will travel occasionally within our five-county service region, with primary activity in Nelson, Marion, and Washington Counties. Mileage is reimbursed. Key ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Recruitment & Outreach Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective volunteers across the five-county region. Represent CASA at community events, information sessions, and outreach opportunities. Support outreach campaigns such as Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month, including distributing materials, coordinating events, and assisting with public education efforts. Represent CASA on local coalitions and workgroups as assigned. Develop and distribute recruitment materials in collaboration with the Executive Director. Respond promptly and warmly to volunteer inquiries and guide prospective volunteers through early steps. Volunteer Onboarding Conduct volunteer interviews (initial screening/CASA 101). Complete reference checks for all prospective volunteers. Prepare, submit, and track background checks according to program and state requirements. Maintain accurate onboarding records and ensure volunteers progress through each step smoothly. Serve as the primary point of contact for new volunteers until they transition into preservice training. Preservice Training Coordination & Facilitation Prepare training schedules, materials, communication, and logistics. Conduct portions of preservice training as assigned, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and mission-centered. Support volunteers through training requirements, including court observation and online modules. Maintain training completion records and coordinate with staff for volunteer placement readiness. Ongoing Volunteer Training & Development Coordinate at least one ongoing training opportunity each month for active volunteers. Collaborate with staff to select relevant topics, secure guest speakers, and prepare materials. Ensure ongoing training meets Kentucky CASA Network requirements and supports trauma-informed, culturally responsive advocacy. Track attendance and maintain training documentation. Foundational CASA Advocacy (One Case) Complete CASA preservice training and court observation requirements. Carry one CASA case to gain firsthand experience with advocacy, court processes, and collaboration with stakeholders. Participate in hearings, submit reports, and engage in case activities as required for the assigned case. Apply real-world advocacy experience to strengthen volunteer training and onboarding. Administrative & Program Support Assist staff in preparing volunteer appreciation materials, including birthday cards, thank-you cards, CASAversary cards, and other recognition items. Support the creation and distribution of the monthly volunteer newsletter, including gathering content, formatting, and sending. Assist with scanning, organizing, and processing court documentation as needed. Support data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks that strengthen program operations. Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth communication and alignment across counties. Training & Professional Development Participate in all required training provided by CASA of the Lincoln Trail. Complete Volunteer Coordinator and preservice training facilitation preparation through the Kentucky CASA Network. Maintain ongoing learning related to trauma-informed care, child welfare, and CASA best practices. Travel & Community Presence Travel occasionally within Nelson, Marion, Washington, Taylor, and Green Counties for recruitment, training, outreach, or coalition participation. Mileage is reimbursed according to organizational policy. Schedule & Work Environment Part-time, 20 hours per week. Employee selects three working days per week, approved by the Executive Director. One remote workday per week is available, or additional remote flexibility as agreed upon with the Executive Director. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for volunteer availability, ongoing training sessions, outreach events, or coalition meetings. Qualifications Strong interpersonal communication skills and comfort speaking to groups. Ability to build rapport with diverse community members and prospective volunteers. Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple onboarding tasks simultaneously. Experience in training, education, volunteer coordination, or community outreach preferred. Familiarity with child welfare, trauma-informed practices, or CASA programs is a plus. Must be able to pass all required background checks, including criminal, sex offender registry, and child abuse/neglect checks. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Physical & Other Requirements Ability to travel within the five-county region. Ability to lift and transport training materials (up to 20 lbs). Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold CASA program standards. Compensation, PTO & Holidays Part-time hourly position (20 hours/week). This position does not include health or retirement benefits. Position includes Paid Time Off (PTO): PTO accrues at 5 hours per month (approximately 8 days per year) Employee receives paid holidays that fall on their regularly scheduled workdays. Mileage reimbursement provided for approved travel.
